Samantha Phumaphi

Samantha Phumaphi is Barrister (Advocate) of the High Court and Court of Appeal of England and Wales.

Samantha has an LLB (Hons) Degree from the University of Sheffield (European, International, and Comparative Law) and an LLM  (Masters in Commercial Law) from the University of Cape Town.

She has extensively practiced law for over 10 years in various legal areas including commercial, insurance, employment, family, and immigration. Samantha also provides conflict resolution services (mediation, facilitation, and arbitration) to both companies and individuals in the areas of family, labour, insurance, and commercial disputes.

In relation to insurance claims, Samantha has acted for numerous insurance companies in road traffic cases, for both the Claimant and the Respondent some of which have included fatalities and substantial personal injury claims. She has also conducted over 40 insurance arbitrations.

Samantha is an accredited CEDR Mediator through Conflict Dynamics and also accredited through the London School of Mediation. Samantha is a Registered Mediator with the Civil Mediation Council in the UK. Samantha sits on the EXCO Board for the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) for the last 2 years.

In addition to being a member of the Tokiso Panel, for arbitration, disciplinary hearings, and mediations. She is on the Court Aligned Mediation Panel for South Africa. Samantha has also provided tuition to trainee mediators on behalf of the London School of Mediation.
